Send Your Ex Something They Won’t Forget.

Stop deleting the same two-word text. Make a birthday-based Text Your Ex card, edit the words, then share it or send it by email.

On this page

It is 11:47 p.m. You have typed “Hey,” deleted it, tried “Hope you're well,” and somehow made a two-word message feel like a job application.

A stained-glass FateWay guide presents a glowing personal card in teal and gold.

If you want to send your ex something memorable, start with a sentence that belongs to you. Give it one clear intention, a little personality, and an ending that does not collapse into “Anyway, sorry, this is weird.”

Your ex does not need the director's cut of your feelings. Give them the line worth keeping.

What would make this unmistakably yours?

Imagine two invented drafts. Both come from someone who wants another conversation.

Draft one: “Hey. Just checking in. Hope everything is good.”

Draft two: “I considered playing it cool. Terrible casting choice. I'd like to talk to you again.”

The second has a voice and an actual request. It also gives the reader something concrete to answer. You can remove the joke if it sounds unlike you; the intention survives.

Now try the same exercise with a goodbye. “I wish you all the best” is perfectly serviceable. “I hope your next chapter has better coffee and people who remember how you take it” gives the goodwill a picture.

A group chat can help you spot an awkward line. It can also edit you into someone who has apparently never felt an emotion. Keep the detail you recognize as yours.

Specificity does not require spilling a secret. A rhythm, an image, or one lightly ridiculous observation can be enough. Avoid borrowing a grand declaration because it sounds impressive. If you would never say “our souls were written in the stars,” do not make your ex meet that person tonight.

Rekindle, wish them well, or get a little petty?

FateWay's Text Your Ex card has three attitudes: Rekindle, Wish You Well, and A Little Petty. Choose the one that describes what you want to express.

A rekindling card can say you want to try again. A goodwill card can appreciate what existed and close the chapter. A petty card can give nostalgia a deservedly unimpressed review. They are three different performances, and the actor is still you.

For example, “I thought of you today” could lead to an invitation, a warm farewell, or a joke about your brain renewing a subscription you already canceled. Mixing all three into one paragraph makes the reader unpack your entire emotional group chat.

A waterfall, a zither, and one honest sentence

FateWay uses your confirmed birthday and saved BaZi reading to create a fictional adult xianxia character for your card. You don't need your ex's birthday. Let's look at one.

Fictional random demonstration profile: female, born 1990-12-23 at 12:12 in Beijing. Her four pillars, in year–month–day–hour order, are 庚午 · 戊子 · 壬戌 · 丙午. The Day Master is 壬 (Ren), Yang Water, taken from the day pillar's stem.

In the traditional vocabulary of Di Tian Sui, Ren is described through moving, circulating water. Here, that becomes indigo reflections, painted mist, flowing dark-blue fabric, and blue-glass jewelry.

In the full artwork, she sits at an angle with a long zither across her lap, fingers lifted over the strings. Auburn hair, wide blue-and-white sleeves, and translucent ribbons move with the same current. Behind her, waterfalls drop from cloud-wrapped mountain pavilions; blue gems and pale mist carry the Water palette through the scene. The zither, hair, and robes belong to the fantasy character; the birthday hasn't calculated a real face.

Now read the actual generated line:

I'd like us to try again, and I'd rather say it plainly than send you a song link.

She's playing a zither in the clouds, admitting that a song link would have been easier. That's the funny part: magnificent setting, very ordinary phone hesitation. She chose Rekindle, and the sentence finally asks for another try.

Read the big quote out loud. If you'd need a different personality to say it, change it. Delete any invented shared memory. Keep the line that makes you grin.

Use one sentence as the anchor

Try building around a short anchor before polishing the whole card. These are original editorial examples:

  • For another try: “I'd rather make one honest invitation than another month of imaginary conversations.”
  • For a clean goodbye: “You mattered. That sentence can stay true while I move on.”
  • For a little shade: “Nostalgia sent a comeback pitch. Lovely presentation. I declined the renewal.”

Each can support a different card without pretending to know what your ex feels. Add only what helps that sentence do its job. You do not need to turn a striking first line into an eight-paragraph legal defense.

If a phrase sounds too polished, make it smaller. “I'd like to talk again” may belong to you more than a line that could headline a perfume commercial.

Make it, edit it, then choose where it goes

How to start in FateWay

  1. Sign in to FateWay.
  2. Enter and confirm your own birth date, birth time, and birthplace. The card starts from this saved personal chart; complete this before generating.
  3. Open the cards above the chat input. This is the card entry in your workbench.
  4. Choose Text Your Ex, select an attitude, and tap Confirm. Choose Rekindle, Wish You Well, or A Little Petty for the message you actually want to make.

You can add a specific situation before confirming if you want the wording to address it. You don't need your ex's birthday.

When the result arrives, edit the title, personal quote, or body. Favorite it if you want to keep it, or open the share view to see the complete card. To email it, choose Send, enter the recipient's address, and check the preview. The recipient gets that card; there is no second letter you have to compose.

Use that route only when contact is welcome. A new delivery format does not cancel a request for no contact. Our earlier Text Your Ex Day guide covers that decision if you are still weighing it.
